It goes to an "adult entertainment" site. I have written to Yves about this problem.

    The correct URL is

Two books were missing for the online version of La Bible de LEMAISTRE DE SACI - 1759. These two books were not found:

    http://456-bible.123-bible.com/saci/27_daniel.htm

This has been reported by email to the web-master.

The webmaster has been very responsive. :-)

The two missing books have since been scanned and are now online.
The SACI Online Bible has also been updated accordingly.

So, the translator (kjfav1611 at yahoo.fr) would probably be willing to give permission for a Go Bible port if we approach her. And/or she may even be willing to make a Go Bible port available from her site.

It remains low priority to make a Go Bible port from the French KJV, for the simple reason that the key features of this translation are identified by presentational formatting, all of which would not be preserved by Go Bible Creator.

The other three translations are certainly of interest.
Yves Petrakian has graciously granted permission for us to make use of his digitized texts for both Go Bible and the SWORD Project.
    For the latter, see also

Today I have made a Go Bible application of the French Pirot et Clamer (1935) translation.

    Minor textual omission: (OCR error?).

While browsing through the text, I came across a verse that is truncated. 1 Jean 2:14 reads,

It would seem that there is some text missing after the word "et". It is like this in the Online Bible module, from which I made the Go Bible.

I have sent an email to Yves Petrakian to report this.

The left and right double quotation marks used in the Pirot Clamer Go Bible do not display in my Sony-Ericsson K750i.

    There are 4083 occurrences of “ (U+201C)
    There are 3980 occurrences of ” (U+201D)

Other phone models probably affected, but many others should display these codepoints correctly.

More truncated verses discovered: ( I will edit this comment if I find more.)

It would appear that every verse with a text containing 256 characters or more has been truncated at 255 characters!

In the Pirot Clamer Bible, there are 304 records that meet this criterion, of which only 21 are in the New Testament.

Investigated using MS Excel 2007, using a "tab delimited text" (TDT) file, which was one of the intermediate stages that I used in making the Go Bible.

The truncations must be due to a software bug in
    * either the Online Bible (unlikely),
    * or the software used to convert the digitized text to the Online Bible format (most likely),
    * or possibly in the OCR software used for the digitization (least likely).

This should be elevated to a high severity issue for the relevant software once the root cause has been identified.

NB. Microsoft Excel 2003 (and every earlier version) has an upper limit of 255 characters for cell contents!
Could this have been used by Yves as an intermediate step in his procedure to make the Online Bible module?
If so, this was a serious oversight.

In view of the reported text truncations, I have temporarily unshared the Pirot Clamer Go Bible on my box.net account.

I just did a statistical analysis of the verse lengths in the Pirot Clamer Bible (OLB) module.
The results are charted using Excel 2007. See charted results at
    http://groups.google.com/group/go-bible/web/VerseLengths.png

The chart lends weight to my conjecture. There is a second peak of verses with length=255.
The few slightly longer verses may be explained by word-wrap effects.

The underlying probability distribution would be of interest to statisticians.
Cubic polynomial best fit below the mode, linear best fit above the mode.

For a good introduction to the topic, see

I have rebuilt the Pirot Clamer Go Bible using source text derived from two Excel files sent yesterday by Yves.

    Download from
    http://www.box.net/shared/rp5cdvmi5a
    or
    http://groups.google.com/group/go-bible/web/FrenchPirot-Clamer.zip

I have altered some booknames to be consistent with how they are spelled within the text.
The Excel files do not have any Pilcrow signs as paragraph markers, so neither does the new Go Bible.

I have just made an alternative build for those phone models that do not have support for left and right quotation marks in their built-in Unicode fonts.
These have been replaced by the ordinary quote " character ANSI(22).

Today I rebuilt both editions of the Pirot-Clamer Go Bible. Minor corrections to 3 verse tags.

Edition FrenchPirot-Clamer retains pilcrows as paragraph markers.
    Edition FrenchPirot-ClamerQ omits pilcrows.

    The download locations are unchanged.
